Why & how social media can be used to positively benefit businesses!




In today's society, social media is widely used by many individuals as it allows them to stay connected, socialise with family and friends, stay updated with trends, news and is a form of entertainment. In this blog, I will be detailing on how social media can be an effective marketing tool for businesses to implement, allowing them to gain further exposure, reach, engagement and to promote their brand to consumers. 

According to Yellow Social Media Report 2018, 62% of Australians use social media everyday and it is evident that the number of people who follow businesses or brands is increasing. Additionally, 33% of Australians check a brands social media presence first before deciding whether they should purchase a product or service. These trends illustrate that using social media can be an effective way for brands to target their market, as it can be used to attract new and exisiting customers. Moreover, a brand's social media presence can influence their purchase behaviour and intention, which can also lead to sharing their experience with family and friends, thereby, generating word of mouth. 

So, how can businesses use social media as a marketing tool? 

Well, the key tips I think is really important and would recommend to businesses is to:
  • Engage with your audience, build strong customer connections through your social platforms. This will allow customers to feel valued, supported and develop a positive connection to the brand.
  • Create interesting digital content that is eye-catching and draws viewers into your socials. This can help keep your audience engaged as well as reach new audiences.
  • Be consistent on your socials! By posting regularly, this will allow your customers to stay updated and also help build an online community.
  • Doing sponsorships is also a great way to generate awareness, such as through influencers promoting your brand's product or service. 
  • I would also particularly focus on creating and enhancing social media platforms such as Facebook & Instagram as it is one of the most popular social media platforms according to Yellow Social Media Report 2018. From there, you can also build your brand presence on other social platforms such as YouTube, Twitter or even TikTok.

Through brands building on their social media presence, this can lead to many positive results such as generating further awareness, engaging with customers, building strong customer relationships, generating word of mouth, reaching out to exisiting and new potential customers, as well as resulting to overall business growth!
